The New World of Staffing: 2017 Trends in HR Tech

A New Direction for HR:

HR tech is growing, and fast – businesses are seeing a rapid technological shift and most teams are adapting (or facing the challenge of going up against those who do).

These platforms are slowly replacing the need for heaps of paper files, frazzled workspaces and eliminating the risks of data loss and security breaches. Here are some of the technologies that let HR teams (and many other industries) work smarter, not harder:

Analytics: (A Key Tool for Workforce Management/Engagement)

1.) Feedback tools, pattern indicators and employee retention predictors are some of the many integrations platforms like Workday and Oracle use to not only shape and mold their workforce but retain it and maintain a steady level of productivity.

Workday, for example, features a predictive integration that can identify changes within an employee’s career that lead to possible positive growth outcomes (or vice versa, highlighting red flags where intervention is necessary).

Artificial Intelligence:

2.) AI is quite possibly one of the most swiftly growing and intuitive technologies to date.  Within the HR industry and beyond, we’ve seen the implementation of intelligent assistant technology (i.e. chat-bots which, through intuitive algorithms, can simulate human conversation).

IBM has even created a completely automated onboarding system where new hires can essentially perform the process themselves, finding others around them as mentors and having a comprehensive preset list of FAQs’ at the ready, while hiring managers can control automated workflows – creating new hire activities and tasks, and check in surveys to evaluate impressions and retain some of the “25% of employees who quit within their first year”.

3.) Employee Pulse Surveys:

Checking in on employees sporadically or once every year is incredibly inefficient and leads to lack of engagement, productivity and worse – loss of labor. Measurement of employee satisfaction can now be implemented on a frequent scale using small surveys that range 5-10 questions long and can be focused on specific areas of improvement.

4.) Workflow Tools:

These tools are becoming very popular with teams big and small. Platforms like Asana provide the ability to assign tasks, due dates and manage dependencies while easily adding integrations

delivering real-time workflow solutions that let teams establish clear, concise communication – getting projects done faster and better.

5.) There has been a major shift in the way we recruit, on-board, engage and retain talent. A new generation dominating the workforce (75% by 2020) and swiftly emerging technologies all lead to one conclusion: the way we work will inevitably change.
